In- Box Sparrow Trap for Gilbertson Nest Boxes

Gilbertson In-Box Sparrow TrapGilbertson In-Box Sparrow TrapGilbertson Nest Box Sparrow TrapSometimes house sparrows may still nest in a Gilbertson box, especially if they have no alternatives or they are extremely numerous in your local area.   In this case, live trapping the sparrows and removing them from your habitat may be your best option.   This simple yet effective device hangs inside the box from the entrance hole lip.   A door springs up blocking the hole when a sparrow trips the trap so it can’t get out.  The orange dot signals from a distance that a bird is in the nest box.  NOTE: This trap should never be left in a box and not checked frequently as it can also trap native birds inside.   Also, it does not harm birds trapped in the box.  No tools or hardware needed to install.   Comes with complete instructions.

 Gilbertson Chickadee/Wren Nest Box

Gilbertson Chickadee/Wren nest boxThe regular Gilbertson Bluebird &  Small Bird House works fine for attracting chickadees and wrens too.  But, if you want a box dedicated to just small birds without worrying about sparrows getting into it, then this nesting box is perfect for you.  This is a slightly smaller version of the bluebird box and has  an 1 1/8” diameter entrance hole and depth of 3 1/2” from the floor to the bottom of the hole.  It will allow Chickadees, House Wrens, and Bewick’s wrens to nest in it—but sparrows can not fit through the hole.    This house is best located in a backyard garden or wooded setting where chickadees and wrens like to nest.  Designed to be pole mounted.   Instructions included.   Dimensions of box:  7 1/2″ high from top of roof to bottom of lower body;  4 1/4″ diameter body; 9″ x 7 1/8″ roof.

Extra Roof For Gilbertson Nest Box

Roof for Gilbertson Nest boxGilbertson PVC nest box roofAlthough the roof of the Gilbertson next box is made of long-lasting cedar, eventually it may need replacing due to long periods of weathering and exposure to rain. (You can prolong the life by taking the box inside in the fall and coating the roof top and sides with a non-toxic stain or sealant once per year)  This extra roof (made of Western Red Cedar) comes with two mounting screws for the lower house body to hang on, but they do not come installed. This is because every house is assembled slightly differently so that the screws match the specific lower body they come with.   The roof comes with instructions on how to locate the screws and install them.  The only tools required would be a Phillips Head Screw Driver, pencil, and small drill/drill bit (optional).  Dimensions:   9″ long by 7 1/8″ wide by 2 1/2″ high.

$15.00 plus $5.00 S&H
